🍂 Hello Peel Tech-ers! Can you believe It’s almost October! Wait, where did summer go!? OK, we still might have a few more warm days ahead, but my kids are back in school. My oldest, her senior year! Happy, sad at the same time. I’m sure most of you with kids can relate.
I wanted to focus the intro to this newsletter edition at the importance of referrals to our business. Literally, we would not be here if it wasn’t for our customers telling their friends and family about our service. I look back at all the investments I have made in digital and print ads, flyers and door- hangers but one of the places of biggest return on investment is doing a good job and getting referrals. So just a reminder, if you hear anyone complaining about their technology, point them our way and get $15 off your next Peel Tech service.
I hope this newsletter provides value, so here we go……
Thank you for business, we appreciate you. ❤️

Sales Tax – Sales Tax My Oh My!!
💵
Starting Oct 1 the unfortunate reality we have to start charging sales tax on our services for customers located in Washington State.
The tax rate will depend on your location (for example, Seattle vs. Bellevue).
Out-of-state clients won’t be charged this tax.
Our rates are not changing—this is a new state requirement, not a price increase from us.
We’ll update our invoices so any services billed on or after October 1 will include the required sales tax.
If you have any questions, just let us know.

Setting up two factor authentication (2FA) on Facebook
🛟
I have been seeing a lot of press and helped customers this summert after their Facebook accounts were hacked to never gain access again. Chances are you won’t get it back. The customer service at Facebook is basically non-existant and even if you do the things they tell you do to, your response will go into the internet ether.
So to protect yourself, here’s how to set up 2FA on your Facebook account.
Turn on 2FA (phone or computer)
1. Open Facebook and log in.
2. Tap/click the menu (your profile pic or the three lines ☰).
3. Go to Settings & privacy → Settings.
4. Tap/click Accounts Center (at the top).
5. Choose Password and security.
6. Tap/click Two-factor authentication.
7. Pick your Facebook account, then tap Turn on.
8. Choose how you want to get codes:
• Authenticator App (best): most secure.
• Text Message (easy): code by SMS.
Set up a Legacy Contact on your iPhone 📲
You can now setup a legacy contact on your iPhone for emergency access or passing.
Here’s how:
Step 1: Open Settings
1. Unlock your iPhone.
2. Tap on Settings app (the gear icon).
Step 2: Go to Your Apple ID
1. At the very top of Settings, tap your name/Apple ID banner.
2. Select Password & Security.
Step 3: Access Legacy Contact
1. Scroll down and tap Legacy Contact.
2. Tap Add Legacy Contact.
Step 4: Authenticate Yourself
* You may be asked to enter your Apple ID password or use Face ID/Touch ID.
Step 5: Choose a Contact
1. You’ll see your contact list.
2. Tap the name of the person you want to assign as your Legacy Contact.
3. Tap Continue.
Step 6: Share Access Key
Apple provides an Access Key your Legacy Contact will need later.
* You can print it or send it via Messages.
* Make sure they keep it safe.
Step 7: Finish Setup
* Tap Done once you’ve shared or saved the Access Key.
* Your chosen person is now listed under Legacy Contact in your account.
Bonus: You can add multiple Legacy Contacts if needed.
Win10 Reminder ! 🎗️
A reminder that Windows 10 will NOT be supported by Microsoft after October. If your computer is more than 5 years old you might need to upgrade your computer because Windows 11 is a large application upgrade and most older computers will not take it.
Here are a few of our favorite systems to consider if you are in the market for a new laptop.

Turning off Copilot ✈️
I have had multiple requests from customers that aren’t quite ready to embrace Microsoft’s AI, Copilot, and have asked me to turn it off. So for those of you who aren’t ready to welcome Copilot, here’s how you can delete it from Windows11.
Delete the system program: In the search field at the bottom of the screen, start to type “Add or Remove Programs.” Select it from above. Scroll until you see Copilot, click on the 3 dots on the right and select uninstall.
In Word: Open Word to a blank doc> Click “File” on the top> Bottom of page click “Options.”> On the next page that pops up, 4th option down on the left, select “Copilot.” > Uncheck “Enable CoPilot”
Referrals! 🗣️
