‼️ Attention Android Phone Users. Software Update – RUN IT! 🚨

I know it’s tempting to ignore your phone’s notification that there’s a new update waiting to install. But this next Android update is one you shouldn’t put off. Google has patched 107 bugs, and several of the security flaws. The only real defense is installing the patch. If your phone runs Android 13 or later, these fixes matter to you. Even if your device claims it’s “up to date,” check the date of your last update. If it doesn’t show a December date, the patch simply hasn’t rolled out to you yet. Manufacturers control the timing, and some are slower than others.

🌅 Comcast Emails Sunsetting – Its True, Kind of!
✉️

It is true, it has begun as of June of this year, Comcast is encouraging users of @comcast.net emails to roll over to Yahoo. Comcast wants out of the email business after failing to provide enough support and security. They are claiming it’s an easy process but I foresee a lot of questions and potential challenges. They are notifying users over the next few months. Here’s a page on their website I was able to find. Click here.

I have yet to hear from any of our customers getting this notification so maybe they are rolling it out super slow or not in our neck of the woods yet. It sounds like they aren’t going to kill @comcast.net but highly encouraging folks to migrate to Yahoo or move to Google or Outlook. I will jump on the side of encouraging you to make the move to Yahoo or another email provider. Comcast has less than impressed me by throwing in the towel on all their email users.

Sometime in January or February, I am going to make a video on this and share it out and might do a live zoom where I can go through the process live and field some questions. Boo Comcast.

🗯️ A Resource To Get REAL Customer Service Agents ☎️

What an appropriate segway from a company that has struggled with customer service to some tips and tricks breaking through those horrible AI customer service agents or the confusing answering phone trees when all you want is to talk to a real person. I recently stumbled on a website I had saved from some time ago. GetHuman! Click here.
You can search on a company and it has gathered tips and tricks to get to a real person. Not every company is in their database but bookmark the site and I hope it helps you pull less hair out of your head or scream at your phone less.

📷 An Alternative to Photoshop for PC Users 💻

I recently read the Microsoft Photos app has greatly improved its editing abilities and makes for a nice alternative to a pricier and more complicated Adobe Photoshop.  Great if you are looking for crop, brighten, remove backgrounds, shadows and erase.  When you’re ready to start editing, double-click on any image in your library. This brings up a larger view, with links to OneDrive and Microsoft Designer, but you’re interested in the built-in editing tools—click the Edit button (on the top left). Happy Editing!

✈️ You Can Now Add Your Passport to your iPhone Wallet 🚁

So if you don’t have an enhanced drivers license you can show this domestically in place of your physical passport.

To start, you’ll need a valid U.S. passport, an iPhone 11 or later with iOS 26.1 or later, or an Apple Watch Series 6 or later with WatchOS 26.1. First, open the Wallet app on your iPhone, then tap the (+) at the top of the screen. Here, tap “Digital ID” under “United States.” Here, you’ll see a pop-up which informs you about Digital ID. Tap “Continue,” then follow the on-screen instructions to scan different parts of your passport using your iPhone’s camera. You’ll next need to authenticate yourself by taking a Live Photo of your face. Once confirmed, you’ll need to capture more angles of your face and head, which the Wallet app directs you through. Once validated, the ID will live in your iPhone Wallet app.  Pretty cool!

External Hard Drive 💾

For those who want to do a backup of their data every once in a while as a redundancy from cloud passed backups (OneDrive/ iCloud), this is a great external hard drive.  For most users 1TB of space should be ample. Please don’t use a thumb drive because the failure rate on these are high.
